"The Keeper wishes to speak with you," Kaelen said.

The holographic display flickered, revealing the ancient alien's face.

"You have done well, Captain," the Keeper said. "But the Swarm is not the only threat."

Elena stepped closer. "What do you mean?"

The Keeper's black eyes glowed. "There is a rift in space-time, at the edge of the solar system. The Swarm came through it. If it is not sealed, more will come."

"How do we seal it?" Elena asked.

The Keeper gestured to a map. "There is a device on the Swarm's mothership. Activate it, and the rift will close."

Elena looked at Kaelen. "We need to get on that ship."

Kaelen nodded. "I will help you."

The plan was simple-use Kaelen's cloaking device to sneak onto the mothership, activate the rift-sealer, and escape. Simple, but deadly.

Elena and Marcus flew their Starhawks toward the Swarm fleet, invisible to enemy sensors.

"There it is," Marcus said.

The mothership loomed ahead, massive and menacing.

Elena guided her Starhawk into the landing bay, the ship settling on the metal deck.

"Let's move," she said.

They climbed out, their weapons ready. The interior was dark, pulsing with red light.

"The device is in the core," Kaelen said over the comm.

They fought through the Swarm, their pulse rifles dropping the alien guards. The core was ahead, a massive sphere of red energy.

"There it is," Elena said.

She planted the device on the sphere's surface, set the timer, and ran.

The explosion shook the mothership. The red lights flickered, then died.

"The rift is sealing," Kaelen said.

Elena and Marcus climbed into their Starhawks and launched, the mothership crumbling behind them.

"Command, the rift is closed. The Swarm is cut off."

"Copy, Ghost Lead. Good work. Come home."

Elena turned her Starhawk toward Earth, the stars streaking past.

The war was over.

But she knew the universe was vast.

And somewhere, new dangers waited.

She touched the photograph of her family, tucked into her flight suit.

"I'm coming home," she whispered.

The stars watched in silence.

The future was uncertain.

But Elena Vasquez was ready.
